Salvation 03:04
I've been a sinner, I know it's true I took a bad path, I did not choose you I knew better but I was not strong I got tempted and I did wrong Now I wonder, is it over, has it been too long Is there salvation Is it waiting Will there be healing If I come kneeling Is there salvation Is there salvation Salvation Feels like it's winter, my days are grey My cold sleepless nights, all alone I pray I accept it, that you had to leave I'm confessing, it's all on me Still I'm asking, is it over, can you tell me please Is there salvation Is it waiting Will there be healing If I come kneeling Is there salvation Is there salvation Salvation Give it time, make amends Figure out why, don't just pretend It's good advice, I'll try, but in the end Is there salvation Is it waiting Will there be healing If I come kneeling Is there salvation Is there salvation Salvation

But I Do 03:27
I can be bought, I can be sold I make my deals out in the cold There's different truth on dusty roads I promised you, I will not go But I do, I do, I do I say I won't, I say I don't I say I can't, but I do I break some rules, I do some bad It's hard to tell just where I'm at The boundaries, they blur, I know I cross the line, I say I don't But I do, I do, I do I say I won't, I say I don't I say I can't, but I do They flash their gold, they trade with lies I think it over, I justify Leave love behind I play the game, I pay the price I take the offer, I say I don't But I do There should be guilt, there should be shame I brought you hurt, I am to blame I try to hide in smoky haze I say I don't feel any pain But I do, I do, I do I say I won't, I say I don't I say I can't, but I do I have been bought, I have been sold I made bad deals out in the cold There's sinful proof on nowhere roads Buried so deep, you'll never know But I do

I fell in a pit where it's void of love I shake in the cold, no sky above Can't feel the sun, can't see a star Can't make my dreams dream very far But I hold on to my heart and I hold on to my hope And I hold out for a hand to hand me a rope And I hold on to be saved I sink in my fear, please I need more time My ears to the dark listen for signs No sound, no help, no trace of life No one's out there to hear my cries But I hold on to my heart and I hold on to my hope And I hold out for a hand to hand me a rope And I hold on to be saved What if my prayers are not answered What if this world’s at an end Will I be left in this darkness, tortured again Still I hold on to my heart and I hold on to my hope And I hold out for a hand to hand me a rope And I hold on to be saved I hold on and I wait And I hold on to be saved

I've been led, led to the slaughter Floated dead, dead in the water Hope bled out straight from my heart But I guess I've also done my part The rules we break Vows we forsake The vengeance we take We're both to blame It's a dangerous game The way we play, it's a dangerous game The way we play, it's a dangerous game I've been fed poisoned desire Sweated dread, feet to your fire Been left out naked in the rain But I know I've also done the same The rules we break Vows we forsake The vengeance we take We're both to blame It's a dangerous game The way we play, it's a dangerous game The way we play, it's a dangerous game The risk we take Cheat, lie and fake Keep raising the stakes We're both to blame It's a dangerous game The way we play, it's a dangerous game The way we play, it's a dangerous game

I'll be your friend, give you my hand Do my best, try to understand Side by side, chasing down the hard truth I'll be, I'll always be with you On heart pounding nights when we sweat and crave Dancing, laughing through brilliant days When mayhem monsoons rain cold black doubt Inside the madness, walking a tightrope out As our hair turns gray and our breath gets weak Till my ashes rest by your dust in peace Right to the edge, around every bend On the trail to the farthest end Eye to eye, searching out the good view My love will always be with you On heart pounding nights when we sweat and crave Dancing, laughing through brilliant days When mayhem monsoons rain cold black doubt Inside the madness, walking a tightrope out As our hair turns gray and our breath gets weak Till my ashes rest by your dust in peace Till my ashes rest by your dust in peace Till my ashes rest by your dust in peace Till my ashes rest by your dust in peace Till my ashes rest by your dust in peace As our hair turns gray and our breath gets weak Till my ashes rest by your dust in peace

about

These songs are mostly about doing wrong, causing pain and hoping to be saved from the resulting mess and to be forgiven. Of course, the wrongdoing and messes aren't really mine. It's the characters in the songs who are doing it, but I can relate. :)

Thanks to Leonard Cohen and Tom Waits for their great music that provided some inspiration.

Thanks also to my collaborators, Doug Campbell and Dean Brantley Taylor. It was great working with them on this EP.
